GENERAL QUESTIONS ABOUT DRIVERS EDUCATION


1. How old does my child need to be to take Drivers Education?

Student must be 15 years of age to start the class/driving portion or the online class/driving portion.


2. How do I register my child?

You can register online by going to the location pages or go to the registration site and print off the registration and contract forms. Mail in the forms and deposit ($150.00) to Bee-Safe Driving School. You can also call or email and we can mail you a registration packet.


3. Can I register my child at the Parent Meeting?

Yes, you can register at the informational parent meeting the week before class starts. See schedule on website for meeting date and time.


4. What is the CDE form?

Certified Driver’s Education form. This form certifies that a student is enrolled in a Driver’s Education program. You must have this to get your learners permit at BMV. CDE forms will be given out at the parent meeting.


5. Is a test required to get learner's permit at BMV?

All customers that require a knowledge examination must take the examination on a BMV testing station unless they have an ADA exception or are taking a learner/operator exam in a language the BMV does not support.


6. How old must a student be to get operator’s license?

They must be 16 years and 90 days old and complete and pass both the classroom and behind the wheel portions of the driver’s education program with a 80%. Must also hold their learner’s permit for 180 days.


7. Who can students practice driving with?

If less than 18, then someone at least 25 years or age that has valid driving privileges and is related by blood or legal status; or, marriage if spouse is over 21 years of age and has valid driving privileges; or, licensed DE instructor (no age requirement) with valid driving privileges. If at least 18 years of age, then, anyone over 25 years of age that has valid driving privileges or their spouse if at least 21 years of age.


8. What is the BMV driving log?

Every student is required by the BMV to get 50 hours of behind the wheel to practice and record it on their log. This will be turned in to the BMV when they get their operator’s license.


9. How are the drivers educational cars equipped?

All Bee-Safe Driving School cars are BMV inspected every 2 years. They must have a dual brake system installed and clearly marked on all sides that it is a Driver’s Education Car.


10. Is the Bee-Safe Driving School and instructors licensed?

All instructors are certified and fully insured by the Indiana BMV. Every 2 years, instructors are re-certified with national background checks and fingerprinting. All 3 driving school locations are certified by the BMV every 2 years.
